Lions Clubs are part of community life, in the cities and in the country. Clubs are easily identified by their distinctive Logo, the trademark of our International Association, and the 'We Serve'; motto.
Lions Australia is part of an international association, filled with people who are joined by the common desire to make their communities better, by using their creativity, enthusiasm and energy.
Membership is open to all people of the community in good standing.
This website is where you can find out about your own local Lions Club.
Currently Lions on Flinders Island have 23 members.
At the moment our president is Lion Bill Cook, secretary is Alison Johnson and our treasurer is Lion Dianne Walsh. Lion Carolyn Dawe is our membership chairpman, Lion Barbara Rorison is recycling spectacles, Lions Pat & Alan Masters run the ticket machine at the tavern, and Lion Shane Walsh does the coffee machine at the airport and the mints. Lion Gordon Rorison organises the Tour de Flinders, Lion Alison Johnson organises the markets, and Lions Alan Wheatley, Angus Campbell and Jim Hughes, assisted by John Langdon organise the fishing competition. Lion Helene Levin organises our stall at the show. Lion Henry Jenner is our woodcutter and marble shoveller extraordinaire. Lion Margaret Wheatley is webmaster. Most of us end up with a number of hats and those who haven't been individaully named all work just as hard and join in whenever they can do make our projects a success. At our changeover we welcomed new Lions Gaylene Burns, Shane Rumney & Russell Judges, and we are certain that they will be a real asset to our club.
We don't expect all Lions to participate in everything we have going because some of us have health and mobility constraints, others have full time work committments or family committments and most of us are attempting to age gracefully.
